Lolly Stick Letters

My favourite thing about handwriting activities is that they don’t need to involve a piece of paper! Changing the resources you use, can grab your child’s attention. Try sticking some lolly sticks on your window using blue tac and see if your child notices them.

Explain that you have created a maze for them to get through. By arranging the lolly pop sticks so that there is a path between them, your child can use a dry wipe pen to follow the maze to get from the starting point to the exit.

This maze is a great way to practise writing the letter w. You could arrange lolly sticks to create some of the other letters e.g. v and z. If you don’t have lolly sticks you could blue tack pieces of paper or cut up cereal boxes to the window.

If you have a go at this activity and share any photos on social media I would love to see them. Please tag @miniwritersclub and let me know how you get on. Feel free to share your pictures in the Facebook group.
