Say the word to your child. Get them to repeat it. Count how many sounds are in the word (i-n-t-o)
Point out the tricky part. The o is making an oo sound.
You will need:
a box
magnetic letters/flashcards i, n, t, o
Explain what the word into means by putting one of the letters into the box. Ask your child to close their eyes then place one of the letters into the box. Can they guess which letter is missing? Look inside the box to see if they are correct.
Stick the flashcard next to your child's bed so that they see it every time they get into bed. Say "into. It's time to get into bed".
You will need:
4 bowls
magnetic letters/flashcards i, n, t, o
a beanbag/a pair of socks
This simple game can be used to help your child learn the word into. Place the magnetic letters (i, n, t, o) into bowls. Take it in turns to throw the beanbag into the bowls. If you don't have a beanbag you could use a pair of socks.
If the beanbag lands in a bowl remove the magnetic letter and place it next to the flashcard. Who will add the final letter to spell the word?
Place one hand out to the left with your palm facing up as you say t (use the letter name).
Then place your right hand out with the palm facing up as you say o (use the letter name).
Then shrug your shoulders as you say where to?
Sing along to the song from Frozen 2 and remember that
the tricky sound at the end is written using the letter o.
