5 Phonics Flashcard Games
Have you got a set of flashcards and are now wondering what to do with them? Here are 10 fun games and activities to play using your Phonics Flashcards. You could play these games using sounds, decodable words or tricky word cards. When selecting the cards to use for each game, include some they know to help with their confidence. Add or change the cards when they become confident with them, but come back to the same ones after a week or so, to make sure they can remember the


Pokémon Phonics - Phases 2-5
If your child loves Pokémon, this is a great way to get them practising sounds, spotting digraphs in words, blending to read and segmenting to spell, all while catching Pokémon!


Phase 4: Spelling CVCC words - Mixed Up Letters
If your child is getting the hang of reading CVCC words, you could try this activity to support them with segmenting to spell them.

This game is really quick, and it's a great way to revisit or review any sounds or words your child is finding tricky to remember. All you need to play is some sound/word flashcards.


Phase 4 - CCVC words
A CCVC word is made from a consonant-consonant-vowel-consonant. Children sometimes find it tricky when two consonants are next to each other. So they might sound out e.g. f-r-o-g but blend them to make fog instead of frog.
