Flip the Card

You will need:

  • times table counters/flashcards - (DIY version here)

  • a pack of cards/pieces of paper with 1-12 written on

Select the cards from one suit but not the Jack card. Use the Ace card as number 1, the Queen card as 11 and the King as 12.

Pick a times table your child is working on and corresponding counters/flashcards. The counters in the photo are for the 5 times table. Place the counters so the answer is facing up.

Shuffle the cards and place them in a pile. Turn the card over and say the number sentence e.g. 10 x5 = and ask your child to find the answer. They can turn the counter over to check if they are right.

You could also place by splitting the counters between two players. Who will be the first to get rid of all of their counters?
