m - money letters

Updated: Nov 25, 2021

Children in reception will be learning to:

  • Form lower-case and capital letters correctly. (Literacy)

What you need:

  • coins

  • drywipe board/paper

  • drywipe pen/pen

Say it and write it

After we did the make a wish activity, we used the coins to make the letter m. I drew the letter on the whiteboard. We talked about how it was like the letter n but with an extra bump. Benji wanted to have a go at drawing it.

Then we used positioned the coins on top of the letter to create an m made from money! I encouraged Benji to place the coins following the same direction that we would write the letter.

You could also draw wiggly lines or shapes for them to make using the coins.

If you have a go at this activity and share any photos on social media I would love to see them. Please tag @miniwritersclub and let me know how you get on.
