Getting dressed - tricky sleeves!

This game is a fun way for children to practise putting their arms in their sleeves by themselves and making sure they aren't inside out.

Choose some small objects or toys that are small enough to be pulled through a sleeve. Hide the objects under a piece of fabric or item of clothing.

Turn one of the sleeves so it is inside out. Hold one of the objects in your hand while you hold the end of a sleeve so that the object is hidden. Ask your child to push their arm down the sleeve until they can feel the object. Ask them to guess what it is. They should hold onto the object and pull their arm out of the sleeve to check if they were correct.

Support - To make it easier you could use larger items of clothing or your own top.

Extend - After PE children may find that their clothes are inside out and will need to correct them before putting them on. Adapt the game to help children practise turning their clothes inside out by getting them to hold onto their sleeve before they pull the toy back through.
