We used the box from the Phonics Box as an activity tray and filled it with sand. Hide the letters needed to spell their name in the sand. We used magnetic letters but you could hide pieces of paper with the letters written on. If you don't have any sand, you could use rice or flour. See if they can find all of the letters.
Can they arrange the letters to spell their name? If your magnetic letters are lower case, remind them that we use a capital letter when we start our name. You could draw one in the sand to show them. They could have a go at writing some of the letters in the sand. If you use Kinetic sand you can also press the letters into the sand and leave an imprint of the letter.
